Newton Programs

Infants

Our infant program insures that generous personal attention is given to the developmental needs of each child.  Activities in the curriculum are designed to take advantage of how a baby’s daily routine can serve as a basis of learning throughout the day.  They are centered on playtime, cuddling time, meal, diapering, and rest time.  Books, songs and rhymes, games, face to face interactions, and fine and gross motor activities are integrated into our program on a daily basis.  Our infant program is flexible enough to respect each baby’s individuality and each family’s unique parenting style.

Toddlers

Our toddler curriculum incorporates concrete themes that allow toddlers to form perceptions about their world through their rapidly developing skills.  Toddlers are active learners; they learn language, problem solving skills, and fine and gross motor skills through investigation, experimentation and repetition.  Exploration provides teachers with the framework to promote the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of toddlers.  It is based on the series “Toddlers Together” by Cynthia Catlin, and the NJ birth to three early learning standards.

Preschoolers

Our preschool curriculum is an all encompassing curriculum that provides teachers with a framework that allows them to present each unit topic through multiple means including critical thought, language, math, science, music, movement, and creative arts.  This allows each individual child the opportunity to involve themselves in activities that they find motivating.  The preschool curriculum incorporates our emergent literacy program which is a balanced approach to early literacy.  The results are children learning to their fullest potential while promoting a strong self esteem.

International Preschool

The core of the International preschool curriculum is the “world tour.” This introduction to other countries is the basic feature that makes our oldest preschool group different from other programs.  Each month the children do an in depth study of a country. These countries represent 6 of the 7 continents, and give children a taste of the diversity of our world. The children learn about language, customs, foods, flags, holidays, landmarks, geography, and other exciting information about each nation.  During the study of China, for example, the children will practice using chopsticks with rice in the sensory table. They will have books about China in the reading center, and they will listen to music from China when doing center time.   The international preschool curriculum is designed to give the children an awareness of similarities and differences around the world. All nations have a place on our world map, a flag (although each is vastly different in color and design), and words for common ideas such as colors, numbers, and days of the week. Now, more than ever, it is essential for the good of humanity that we understand and accept diversity among each other because…it is a small world after all.

Before and After School Program

The before and after school program caters to the needs of the working parent who has children up to grade six.  Transportation to and from First Impressions is available.  We offer a balance of quiet homework time, the latest gaming platforms, sports fields and basketball as well as plenty of games, activities and crafts to keep your child entertained while in a safe environment.  Extended care is available during public school breaks, early dismissals, and delayed openings.  Children in our before and after school program find it an easy transition into our summer camp.

Summer Camp

Our summer camp for children ages five to twelve years old offers parents peace of mind knowing that their children are safe and having a great time.  Each week is jam packed with a variety of activities.   Weekly field trips include destinations such as movies, bowling, laser tag, and Mountain Creek.  Presenters such as dj’s, mad science, reptile guys, karate, and zumba instructors keep campers entertained and involved.  There are daily opportunities for field sports, water games, crafts, video games and lots of plain old fun.
